Finance

A crucial part of pre-productions sequences is to assess the financial where bouts of the production.
Potential sources of finance.
  •          Expenditure - money that is getting spent.
  •          Requirements - things that must happen so that you are allowed to enter or get something.

Sources of funding

TV channels

BBC, ITV and Channel 4 all support shorts.

Funding is direct - Money you get help with your project
  • Commissions
  • Grants

Funding is ‘in kind’ - resources that you get for free to help you with your project.
  • Development
  • Screening support
  • Competitions

Commissions - A person giving money to help fund their project. 
  • BBC 3, original shorts 
  • BBC 2, it’s my shout


Development (e.g. Channel 4 director development programme)

Screening support (e.g. ITV and Odeon anti bullying shorts)

The British film institute only funds feature length projects
Does not fund standalone shorts
